Singapore is compact enough to see properly in a single call, which is unusual for a capital. The city tour takes in Marina Bay and the Merlion, the colonial district around the Padang and Raffles, the shophouses and temples of Chinatown and Little India, and the orchid houses of the Botanic Gardens, with a bumboat cruise along the Singapore River between the old godowns and the skyline that replaced them.
After sunset the same city reads completely differently.
