Punta Sur National Park
The tour begins with a scenic drive along the panoramic coastal road, which offers breathtaking views of the shoreline and the open sea. After about 30 minutes we reach the Punta Sur Eco Park, one of the most impressive attractions on Cozumel.
Inside the park you will find a lagoon where, with a little luck, you can spot crocodiles. Your guide leads you to a viewing tower from which you can admire the surrounding mangroves and watch a wonderful variety of birds – and if you are fortunate, you may even see flamingos. You will also visit a 14th-century Maya ruin, where your guide shares the story of the ancient Maya and their importance to the island.
Lighthouse and Museum
Next we continue to the highest lighthouse on Cozumel. The 132 steps to the top are well worth the effort, because the view over the southern part of the island is simply spectacular. Beside the lighthouse stands a small museum with fascinating exhibits from the age of the Maya as well as the pirates and smugglers who once made the waters around Cozumel unsafe.
Beach Time and Snorkelling
After exploring the park you relax on one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Enjoy the sunshine, take a walk or swim in the crystal-clear water. If you wish, and weather permitting, you can snorkel at the offshore reef and discover its colourful underwater world. A tasty Mexican lunch rounds off your time by the sea, and your guide is always on hand to make your beach stop a truly special experience.
The Wild East Coast of Cozumel
On the way back the tour continues along Cozumel’s untouched eastern coast. This side of the island enchants visitors with its rugged natural beaches, striking limestone formations and sweeping views over the open ocean. Your guide is happy to stop so that you can photograph the dramatic scenery at leisure and soak up the wild beauty of the island.
