Autumn Tour in Alta
The autumn tour in Alta combines UNESCO-listed rock art with the colours of the Finnmark in early autumn. Indeed, the carvings here are up to 7,000 years old and were listed by UNESCO in 1985. Moreover, the tour runs at a relaxed pace with a friendly English-speaking guide.
Rock Art and Autumn Colours
At the World Heritage Rock Art Centre, wooden walkways lead past hundreds of figures carved into the smooth rock. Hunters, reindeer, boats and bears tell of life here thousands of years ago. Afterwards, the drive continues through a landscape turning red and gold. Above all, the wide plateau of the Finnmark feels vast and quiet at this time of year.
