The Heart of Gran Canaria

This tour crosses the whole island from north to south, taking in its most fascinating sights. Indeed, it moves from charming towns through breathtaking mountains to the traditions that shape island life. Moreover, the contrast between the green north and the dry, sunny south is striking.

From Las Palmas into the Mountains

The day starts at 09:00 in Las Palmas and climbs steadily into the mountainous interior. There the Roque Nublo, a great volcanic monolith, dominates the skyline of the highlands. Along the way, viewpoints open across calderas and deep ravines that cut through the island. Above all, a relaxed picnic with Canarian specialities is served in the open air.

Crossing a Miniature Continent

Driving from Las Palmas to the south coast takes little more than an hour, yet the landscape changes completely along the way. Indeed, the road climbs from sea level to well over a thousand metres before dropping again. In the highlands, pine forest and bare rock replace the plantations of the coast. Above all, the Roque Nublo stands as a great monolith at the centre of the island, sacred to the original inhabitants. Moreover, the viewpoints along the route look down into calderas so deep that the villages at the bottom seem tiny. As a result, a single day here feels like several journeys.
