Land and People Tour

This tour leaves the capital behind for the countryside of the Dominican Republic. Indeed, it shows villages, farmland and a waterfall where you can swim. Moreover, pick-up is at 09:00 at the port in Santo Domingo.

Markets, Ranch and Waterfall

After a short drive to Boca Chica the tour heads inland, about an hour overland to the province of Bayaguana with a break along the way. In the town itself you visit a typical Dominican farmers’ market, where produce comes straight from the surrounding fields. Afterwards, a short drive reaches a local ranch at Sierra de Agua. Above all, the day ends at a beautiful waterfall where there is time to swim.

The Dominican Countryside

Away from the coast, the country turns green and hilly. Indeed, sugar cane, cocoa and coffee have shaped these provinces for centuries, and many families still farm smallholdings by hand. The farmers markets are the heart of village life, where produce is traded fresh each morning and everyone knows everyone. Moreover, the Sierra de Agua holds several waterfalls fed by mountain streams, cool even at midday. Above all, the pace here is noticeably slower than in the capital, and that contrast is what makes the tour worthwhile.
