Each school brings around 4,500 dancers in elaborate costumes and eight decorated floats onto the 800-metre parade avenue. Altogether, nearly twenty thousand performers take part in a sea of rhythm, glitter and colour. Your ticket covers the sought-after sectors 3 to 7, which have no fixed seating but excellent views of the action. Above all, the sheer scale of the spectacle is impossible to convey in photographs.
