Cozumel Highlights
Dive into the fascinating history of the Maya, discover the wild beauty of Cozumel’s uninhabited east coast and experience the unique flora and fauna of the Punta Sur National Park – all in one perfectly balanced private island tour with Bakadi Dreams. This is the ideal excursion for cruise guests who want to see the very best of Cozumel in a single, unforgettable day.
With your friendly English-speaking guide at your side, you enjoy an intimate, personal tour that connects the island’s most beautiful sights at a relaxed pace, leaving plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere and take photographs along the way.
San Gervasio – A Journey into the World of the Maya
Our tour begins with a visit to San Gervasio, the largest archaeological site on Cozumel, hidden deep in the island’s tropical jungle. The ruins date from the Late Postclassic period (1200–1500 AD) and formed an important religious centre for the Maya. Here you learn about their gods, architecture, mathematics and astronomy.
Although the ruins are smaller than the famous Maya sites of the Riviera Maya, they enchant visitors with their intimate atmosphere and the stories they tell. Your guide brings to life the myths and secrets of this ancient culture, once dedicated to Ixchel, the goddess of fertility and the moon.
The Uninhabited East Coast of Cozumel
After our journey into history, the tour continues to Cozumel’s uninhabited eastern shore, known for its rugged beaches and unspoilt nature. Here we visit the wild Playa Pescadores, whose crystal-clear water and idyllic surroundings invite you to linger. Take a stroll along the coast or dip your toes into the warm Caribbean Sea.
Punta Sur National Park – Pure Nature
The next stop is the Punta Sur National Park, a true natural paradise and one of the most beautiful attractions on the island. We follow an unpaved road into the park and stop at a lagoon to look out for crocodiles and other wildlife. From the viewing tower you enjoy a wonderful outlook over the surrounding mangroves and, with a little luck, you may even spot flamingos.
Alongside the impressive nature, we visit a small 14th-century Maya ruin before continuing to the island’s highest lighthouse. The 132 steps to the top are well worth it – the view over the southern part of Cozumel is simply unforgettable. Right next to the lighthouse a small museum delights visitors with exhibits from the age of the Maya and tales of pirates and smugglers.
Beach Time and Snorkelling
To round off the tour, one of Cozumel’s most beautiful beaches awaits you. Relax on the white sand, enjoy a delicious Mexican lunch or explore the offshore reef while snorkelling (weather permitting). Your guide is always on hand to make your time by the sea a truly special experience.
Because this is a private tour, the itinerary is flexible and can be tailored to your wishes – simply let your guide know what you would like to do, and we will shape the day around you. This private Bakadi Dreams excursion runs at a relaxed pace, in a small group, with a guaranteed return to your cruise ship in good time.
