Emerald Vale Brewery
Experience East London’s Culture and Nature in a Truly Unique Way
East London, the “Gateway to the Wild Coast,” offers a fascinating blend of tradition, nature, and modern experiences.
At the heart of the Jikeleza Route lies Emerald Vale, an extraordinary brewery that offers much more than just beer.
Here, the German-Austrian roots of the founders – Petra, Hans, and Chris – merge with vibrant African culture, creating a truly multisensory experience.
A Unique Fusion of Culture and Craftsmanship
Emerald Vale is a hub of creativity and tradition.
The local community plays a key role: artists and artisans showcase their skills and invite you to join in. Try your hand at basket weaving or create traditional beaded figures – the perfect souvenir and a lasting memory.
A highlight of any visit is the school choir, whose melodic rhythms and energetic dances deeply move every guest.
This authentic encounter with African music and dance will stay with you long after your trip.
Pure Nature: Hike and Relax
The area surrounding Emerald Vale is defined by untouched natural beauty.
For those who love activity, hiking and biking trails lead to a small dam and scenic viewpoints. The nature trail to the dam is only 1.1 km long – perfect for beginners.
If you prefer a more relaxed pace, explore the area comfortably on a short 4×4 ride through the landscape.
Tastes of Emerald Vale
The brewery is famous for its high-quality craft beers, refreshing iced tea, and on-tap gin – all passionately crafted with artisanal precision.
Many ingredients come straight from the brewery’s own vegetable garden, which visitors are welcome to admire and explore.
Paired with local snacks, your visit becomes a delightful culinary highlight.
Your Visit – What to Expect
After arrival (approx. 45-minute transfer), you can take part in a variety of activities: try out local crafts, explore the trails, or join a guided tour with the brewmaster.
Behind-the-scenes insights into the brewing process are just as exciting as the encounters with local culture.
The school choir performance is a must – a goosebump moment you’ll never forget.
Emerald Vale is also ideal for families – with play areas and a kids’ room, there’s plenty to keep the little ones entertained.
