Whale, Dolphin & Penguin Island Tour
This marine safari from Port Elizabeth heads out to the St Croix island group in Algoa Bay. Indeed, you may encounter whales and dolphins along the way. Moreover, the trip visits two islands that are central to the survival of the African penguin.
Out to St Croix and Brenton Island
The tour starts at the pier and transfers to the Nelson Mandela Bay Yacht Club, where you meet your skipper and guide. After a safety briefing on the way out of the harbour, the boat heads for St Croix Island, home to around 3,000 endangered African penguins and one of the most important breeding colonies anywhere. Sadly, some ninety per cent of the population has disappeared in the past fifteen years. Afterwards, Brenton Island follows, a reserve within a marine protected area.
