Souq Waqif, Corniche and West Bay

The Souq Waqif is the heart of the old city, rebuilt in traditional style with mud-rendered walls and wooden beams. Spices, textiles and falcons change hands in its lanes, and the coffee houses stay busy well into the evening. Afterwards, the Corniche follows the bay for seven kilometres with the towers of West Bay opposite. Above all, the contrast between the low souk and the glass skyline across the water is striking.
