Jerusalem & the Dead Sea from Ashdod

This excursion from the port of Ashdod combines the old city of Jerusalem in the morning with relaxation at the Dead Sea in the afternoon. In Jerusalem we visit the most important religious sites of Judaism, Christianity and Islam and look at what the three monotheistic religions share and where they differ.

Through the Jaffa Gate into the Old City

From the port of Ashdod you travel with our English-speaking guide into the old city of Jerusalem, which you enter through the Jaffa Gate. A first highlight is the visit to Golgotha, today inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the holiest site in Christendom.

Via Dolorosa, Western Wall and Dome of the Rock

Along the Via Dolorosa, where Christians remember the Way of the Cross, you reach the Western Wall, where observant Jews pray close to the destroyed Temple. Only a few metres away, at the Dome of the Rock, Muslims commemorate the ascension of the Prophet. The tour also covers the historical and political developments of the last hundred years.

Floating in the Dead Sea

In the afternoon relaxation is on the programme. At around 430 metres below sea level the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth, and its salt content is so high that you float on the surface without effort. There is time to bathe and to try the mineral-rich mud before we return to the port.
