Nizwa Day Tour

This day tour heads inland to Nizwa, the former capital of Oman. Indeed, pick-up is between 09:00 and 09:30 at the main entrance of Muscat port. Moreover, the forts and castles of the region are the most striking cultural monuments in the country.

The Round Fort and the Souk

Nizwa fort is dominated by an enormous round tower, built in the 17th century as a defensive stronghold and lookout. From its roof the view reaches over the date palm oasis and the mountains beyond. Beside it lies the souk, famous for silver jewellery, pottery and its Friday goat market. Above all, Oman is estimated to hold several hundred forts, and this is among the finest.
