Muscat
Muscat shore excursions with Bakadi Dreams explore the fascinating capital of Oman. Indeed, the city combines oriental tradition with modern elegance, framed by white minarets, golden domes and the turquoise Arabian Sea. Moreover, every tour is timed to your ship and runs in a small group with a friendly English-speaking guide.
Mosque, Palace and Souk
The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a masterpiece of Islamic architecture, its prayer hall holding an enormous hand-woven carpet and a chandelier of Swarovski crystal. Along the old harbour stand the forts of Al Mirani and Al Jalali, guarding the Al Alam palace between them. Above all, the Mutrah souk is one of the oldest markets in the Arab world, heavy with the smell of frankincense.
Beyond the Capital
Inland lies Nizwa, the former capital, with its round fort and lively goat market. Along the coast to the south, the Wadi Shab cuts a gorge into the mountains, with pools of clear green water at its end. Alternatively, boat trips reach dolphins offshore or sail into the sunset on a traditional dhow. Finally, modest clothing covering shoulders and knees is required for the mosque.
